In approx. 1957 Mrs Joyce Gardener (wife of Herbert [Paddy] Gardener) organised a social event at Longwarry North, held in the hall. Many of the locals at Longwarry North performed on the night and the event was a huge success.
Any help with identifying the ladies singing on stage would be greatly appreciated. Of the 4 ladies? performing a skit we know Ken Bell 2nd from the right.
Ladies from the left: Anne Alexander, Joyce McDermid, _____, Kath Eacott, Florrie Baker, Jean Mason, Mrs. Eddie Gardner, Anne DeRuter, Mrs. Potter, Peg Potter, _____, Joan Bateson, Joyce Gardner, _____, Pat Bell.
Men from left: Henry DeVent, Paddy Gardner, Ken Bell, _____.
Below: Ken Bell and Mrs. Paddy Gardner. Their skit was so popular that it was suggested by the then owner of the Robin Hood hotel that they enter a TV talent quest at Channel 10 in Traralgon. Mrs. Gardner was unable to attend and Mrs. Ken Bell took her place. Although they didn’t win the talent quest they had fun trying. The song was “There’s a hole in the bucket”.
